Epsilon fuel level sensors are designed for high-precision fuel level measurement in storage tanks and vehicle fuel tanks. They can be used in fuel consumption monitoring systems, including fuel drain and refuelling detection, as well as in GPS vehicle tracking systems from various manufacturers.
Epsilon sensors use the capacitive measurement principle.
Epsilon series sensors measure the fuel level in vehicle tanks with an error of no more than 1–2%. This accuracy makes it possible to detect small refuelling and fuel drain events: approximately 5–10 litres for trucks and 10–20 litres for heavy machinery. Compared with standard resistive fuel level sensors, capacitive sensors are fully electronic and have no moving parts, ensuring low measurement error, stability and reliable operation.
Epsilon sensors are installed partly inside the fuel tank and partly near the tank, which means they may operate in potentially explosive atmospheres. For this reason, Epsilon sensors are equipped with approved intrinsic safety barriers: 1Ex protection for Epsilon ES and EN models, and 0Ex protection for Epsilon EZ. Explosion protection is confirmed by the relevant national and EU certificates.
All Epsilon series sensors have a modular design: the measuring head can be installed and removed independently of the fuel probe. This allows the measuring head to be quickly and easily replaced, if necessary, without tank recalibration.
This design also simplifies installation in hard-to-reach locations.
